This is absolutely disgraceful. They reduced the number of poling places by over 60% in the most populous counties with a liberal majority. More voter suppression. How can anyone trust a party who doesn’t even beleive in having a fair vote in our democracy? They spout the constitution and then go on to violate the principles it stands for. They only want to win at what ever price.

Californians have always said that the Zonies were more like Florida than Texas. But then again, “Zonies” is what Coloradans call them, not Californians.

The Republicans will do what ever it takes to win, perhaps.. make apologies after the fact but winning comes first. The Democrats try this as well but are not quite as blatant about it

Poll workers are generally elderly and very slow to process voters. I vote in a heavily Democratic precinct in a heavily Democratic state and city (New York) and it usually takes the poll workers ten minutes to process each voter. This causes very long lines. Since the process of being a poll worker is voluntary, I cannot blame the Democrats (although it would be convenient to do so) for this terrible system.

Long lines cause people to just step out and not vote – there should be enough polling stations for everyone, if you are concerned about Democracy. If you are concerned about your party – This is only a problem if your “side” is the one that is left outside in an unmoving line. People finally getting to the head of the line to find that Independents could not vote (you have to be registered in Arizona) or they are not even in the right district. Even the state’s Republican governor (a poster boy for voter suppression) spoke out against the unacceptable situation – probably because Republicans were affected as well.Arizona has a long history of problems at the ballot box. With a history of discriminatory and racist election practices they are scrutinized if less than half of voting-age people in a jurisdiction are registered to vote and if they have a “test or device” to restrict the opportunity to vote. Arizona went from 200 polling locations in 2012 to just 60 – or one place to vote for every 20,833 eligible voters. The more minorities and the more Democrats, the further the polling stations. How can you have such a big number of people who are trying to participate in our elections that are treated this way? We want to encourage voting, we don’t want to discourage voting. That’s definitely not something we should be doing in any state. This is America and we all get one vote, anyone who tries to stop it is unpatriotic.

Republicans voting for Republican election officials to resign? For following the lead of the Republican Supreme Court?

    Riiiight.

And then they’re going to say that the invasion of Iraq was a disaster and we (and Belgium) are still living with the consequences.

    Sure.

How the mighty are fallen! Arizona was the only state outside the old traitor republic to require voting law clearance – until that law enforcement measure was outlawed by a narrow margin in the Supreme Legislature. Note that in their first election for president as a state, 1916, the Republicans came in fourth (third nationally).

But hey look at the bright side, maybe some black people were discouraged from voting – oops, sorry I meant to say that there probably was less cases of voter fraud even though there actually very few cases to begin with.

Hmm, hey you guys keeping voting for these GOP obstructionist morons and then bitching when you get this.

Late ’70’s in Arizona noted that Michigan plates, especially in winter, outnumbered Arizona license plates. Always wondered if that was why Arizona changed their plate to the same color as Michigan’s so foks wouldn’t notice? It does explain the right swing in Arizona politics that occurred with that influx of aging conservatives, with money to move south. Hmm, Florida saw the same swing, how ’bout that.

It’s thumbing-sense. Thumb-sucking reassures oneself that the suck comes from a known and trusted source. One knows where one’s thumb has been.

Nothing new here. I’m 58 and the only time I’ve ever waited more than 20 minutes to vote anywhere was when I lived in Tucson back in the 80s.
