I got thru statistics and quantitative analysis with B’s thanks to a professor who’s theory was in the real world one had access to resources to answer questions, the trick was to recognize the question and know where to find the appropriate answer! God bless that man!!!!!!
Yep, in the real world, it is knowing where to find the answers that is more important than doing it by rote. Often times the method of doing something can change due to changed data.

My Air Force tech school tests were all “open book” tests. Knowing how to find the answer was what was important.

One of the ChemE profs told us not to memorize stuff we could look up in two minutes.
