@Old Crow Nobo – Let me offer you a slightly different perspective. I don’t believe the majority of Trump’s supporters (including me) object to the Civil rights laws but many of us Detest affirmative action and racial preferences that favor less qualified candidates in the name of making up for a wrong that occurred 150 years ago.
Trump is tapping into that frustration. And before you tell me that we have to make up for the racism that occurred afterward let me remind you that many Irish Immigrants came at the turn of the century and still managed to build up a self sufficient life for themselves in one or two generations. Chinese and Korean immigrants move into poor neighborhoods and work hard to build a life for their children and in one generation – maybe two you have prosperous families.
And yet the African American communities continue to claim that their kids need special treatment because of the unfairness that occurred in the 1800’s. And they want those special privileges at the expense of college kids like my sons and daughters. Because those communities are unwilling or unable to examine the corrosive and self-destructive facets of their own culture they blame everyone else for their problems – And we are sick and tired of it.
Rosa Parks wasn’t asking for special treatment – She was asking for Equal treatment and she deserved that. The Angry protesters in Chicago know that they are going to be kicked off the gravy train if Trump gets into power and they aren’t afraid to use violence to keep their gubermint checks coming in.
Trump may or may not be a racist – I’ll ignore for the moment his business projects in Asia and his casual and friendly hobnobbing with brown skinned people – but how is he a worse embarrassment to Amerikastan than the blood soaked war criminal with the arrow logo who’s already helped destroy four countries and hasn’t even been in power yet?
Now, if you were rich and had gone to an Ivy, your kids could go as legacies and learn to keep other people from getting affirmative action. Sounds fair to me.
The videos of Trump security telling blacks that “you people” aren’t allowed while white people who admit they’re only there to protest are let in, are simply appalling.
Gresch; things have changed, didn’t you know? The Southern caucus that was controlled by the Democrats such as Richard Russell and his crew have now become Republicans Things have flipped around and what was the Party of Lincoln is now the party of Jefferson Davis. This happened decades ago and apparently you haven’t kept up. Fact, not my opinion.
Martin Luther King’s father was a Republican. Most Black people were, since the Lincoln freed the slaves, and neither party did much for them after that time until the early 1960’s. Then, Kennedy and Johnson pushed through the Civil Rights laws that granted them the same rights as Whites ( at least on paper, reality didn’t quite keep up). When Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, he said “We have lost the south for a generation.” He underestimated. The south had been solidly Democratic until that time, and went equally solidly Republican immediately. Meanwhile, that fact made a lot of people who had been Republicans switch to the Democratic party. So, in the early 60’s, the two parties switched sides. Anytime you talk about what the Democrats did before 1960, you are actually talking about the people who are now Republicans.
Mr. Luckovich, please, have some mercy. My sides are beginning to hurt from the laughter. But, you is right. Muslims, Mexicans, The POPE, and now Mrs. Parks, this clown hates everyone, with the possible exception of that mug he sees every morning in the Pier-glass.You Editorial-Cartoonists should be pulling for him, though; 4 years, at least, of guaranteed comic material. That assumes you’re not in the Concentration Camps with me.Keep ‘em coming, Sir; you’re making this whole electoral year palatable.
Low blow..Rosa parks resisted a wrong and immoral order, unlike the Trump protesters who were trying to deny his freedom of speech....and she had a job..Try again.

One of the most brilliant political cartoons I’ve ever seen. Mr. Luckovich should win a Pulitzer Prize for this one. Stunningly accurate.

Actually Trump has a lot in common with Ralph Kramden. They are both bullies who always retract and take back their insults in the end
