I drive a truck that can’t outrun the police too. 13 liter engine, 350 hp. Maybe it’s the drag of all that freight in my trailers.

You MIGHT outrun the police, but you can’t outrun their RADIO.

Hate to say it but the days of the police cars being able to outrun somebody are over. When emission controls hit, they eventually forbid the police having engines that didn’t meet emission standards. Thus today, for any given car (Hemi Charger lets say) the police will have better tires for High speed and perhaps a better suspension but the engine is the same. Considering that they have the light bar on top and the weight of all the radios, computers, guns, etc. they are heavy and less aerodynamic than the same car from the showroom. Driving skills, radios, and teamwork are what enable them to catch people.

I listen to dispatch as I do not really have a life away from home, surprises me the idiots who think they can outrun the law with description of the auto. The Sheriff or PD will stop pursuit when driver is at unsafe speed. For me not outrunning any PD not breaking the law and harder on the driver they do try.

I always wonder why anybody ever tries to outrun the police, particularly in a big city where you’re not only tracked by the police helicopter, but also the Channel 2, Channel 5, Channel 7, etc. helicopters.
