Again we revolve back to when they first got together … She may not have been that way then, and specifically said she would never, but apparently the people in her class changed her. Also she ought to remember well enough how Nate feels about this – being a sixth grader.

Nate should definitely tell her everything he has given up to be with her. She seems oblivious.

I don’t see how her ego can be drastically affected by sitting with sixth-graders for one day. What is she? miss globapoulara?

The plot thickens!

At my school, it’s never like this. The grades are mostly kept apart with different wings, different lunchtimes, and different teachers. If anything, we’re NICE to the sixth-graders. We help them with their writing and give them positive feedback.

“I’m a seventh grader so I know how it feels.”-I don’t think so. Seventh graders have no souls.

Again, I’m starting to think Trudy isn’t worth it. Break up and go back to Angie; you two had similar interests and, best of all, were the same age. That, or bring in Ruby from Blasts Off, who had a crush on Nate. It might also bring in some character development (in the comic) for Randy Betancourt!

The beginning of the end.

I think there was a story arc some years back where Nate became fascinated with hanging around Marcus………Marcus was soon dissing all of Nate’s friends, including Artur, and the “leverage” battle was on, with Marcus seeming to have the upper hand. But Nate chose wisely and returned to his real friends. THIS current chain of events reminds me an awful lot of that.

Sadly, I think this relationship is doomed. Even when 2 people like each other a lot and are well-matched, they have to exist in the world. At this age, one year difference means a lot.

Uh-Oh. I can see where this is going. I hope Nate and Trudy don’t break up. Because that would mean Nate would be Mr. Lonesome and he would fall in love with Jenny again. So please Mr. Perice, make Trudy Nate’s permanent girlfriend.

Oh, they may compromise by splitting their time between the 2 sets of friends, but it does appear that Nate may have to make a painful choice. Trudy does not seem to be the unrelenting type. I hope that I am wrong. She is an interesting character!

Can you imagine adults acting that way? “Your friends are all 39 and my friends and I are 40. There is NO way I’m hanging out with a bunch of 39 year olds. Blech!”

Break up with Trudy dude. She always wants you to do what she wants, but she doesn’t care how you feel. She is just a little jerk for saying that she won’t hang out with nate’s friends even though he always hangs out with her friends.

I mean Trudy chooses what to do, but that doesn’t mean Nate should break up with her.

In order for a relationship to work, both people have to sacrifice. But in this relationship, only Nate is sacrificing. That ain’t right.

Comes the first hurdle of their relationship.

@MJbig05 this is actually the first time Nate has even spoken up, so you can´t say “she allways wants you to do what she wants”. If she was supposed to think Nate would want her to do other stuff similar to hers he would have had to say something before.

I think Nate is being very mature about this. It’s time for Trudy to be mature.

@Tue Elung-Jenson I know that this is the first of him speaking up, but I’m sure that by the end of this comic theme, he would’ve told her how he feels. Also, she should’ve known by Nate’s body language and stuff.

Finally Nate has grown a pair! If she won’t go, this relationship is as good as dead.

But I can see this going a few ways – Nate breaking up with her over this (this is a definite if she doesn´t change course, we know how he stands here) – and she will either try to mend fences explaining things (which can fail or not), or she won´t care and she will vanish into the void of all other characters.I do hope this is a temporary break up myself though, and that she improves her attitude on this matter. And ofc Nate then opens up a bit more.

Attaboy, Nate! You have been totally miserable since she latched onto you. If she does not want to be with sixth graders, she should not be with you. Be yourself, and be true to your friends. Don’t put up with her demeaning crap.

It’s interesting that some of the commenters are identifying with Trudy because they’re in the 7th grade. What if this were about a relationship between a 7th grader and an 8th grader? Would that make you feel differently?

come on #audi. Just because Trudy is older doesn’t mean that she has to be a jerk. I am a seventh grader to, and I wouldn’t mind sitting with sixth graders. And, " Last but not least, elders have more power, Nate should listen to TRudy not the other way." “Elders should have more power.” First of all, Trudy is one year older than him, max. second of all, that argument is about as ridiculus as saying, “Nate is a man. He should decide where they sit.” They could take turns, or sit together alone.

Since Nate spoke his position, I think Trudy will acquiesce and say, of course and go with him. She does like him.

Well you can not just use an elder excuse too stand up for trudy. Nate has given up so much for her including dee dees party and a real cartoonist. Nate barely even enjoyed hanging out with the seventh graders. Trudy is acting very childish and Nate is the one who is being mature in this situation. After all he gave up for her he asks to eat lunch with his freinds and thats to much. Trudy is forgetting that Nate has other people in his life. I honestly liked this relationship and did not want it to end but if this is how trudy is gonna act it better.
