FBI: If the phone remains locked, the terrorists win! If unlocking it violates civil liberties, the terrorists win! How do I unlock without letting the terrorists win? Mac Genius: Did you try turning it off and back on again?
More people were killed by infants with guns than by terrorists in this country last year. You people sell yourself out so fast and cheaply to an illusion of terror. Do you think facism will save you?
It isn’t going to matter whose will is stronger.-Terrorism is not a contest of wills to begin with.-Instead, terrorism is a war that is fought by people who have little or no other means of waging war.-It didn’t require a fanatical or religious devotion to wage it, all it required was somebody to resort to it for some reason or another, some injustice or another, or even some slight against somebody or another.-All a terrorist needs to do is commit the act of terror and it doesn’t matter how he does that to achieve their means—remember that all it took to bring down those planes on 9/11 was box cutters and if you restrict those means, somebody else will find another way.-And it is not going to matter who the terrorists hit, be it a superpower or their next-door neighbor, if the terrorist has elicited a response to their terrorist act, they’ve already won.
The Constitutional argument is whether having to WRITE software and firmware to decrypt ONE phone, would open ALL phones and devices to searches and seizure, and not just by our government, without warrants.
The FBI and the IPhone: How Apple’s Security Features Have Locked Investigators OutThe auto reset was executed by a county information technology employee, according to a federal official. Federal investigators only found out about the reset after it had occurred and that the county employee acted on his own, not on the orders of federal authorities, the source said.
Apple executives say the iPhone was in the possession of the government when iCloud password was reset. A federal official familiar with the investigation confirmed that federal investigators were indeed in possession of the phone when the reset occurred.

If the FBI was talking about this one phone, then I would support them. They want the software to decrypt all phones.

The upshot is that Apple could have opened the phone if the FBI had not ham handedly tried to open it themselves.
