The evangelicals only believe in “republican Jesus” who never said to give your coat to the one who has none. For many a true believer all that matters in a candidate, no matter the office, is that said candidate also profess to be a true believer. No actual scrutiny of actions, doctrines, or practices is necessary as long as the candidate can talk the talk.
