Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for January 22, 2016

Transcript:
Arlo: I could adopt a professorial look...
mc2 = E
Arlo: Or a James Dean look...
Arlo: Or a laconic man of the outdoors!
Janis: All of which involve just putting on a jacket.
Arlo: I have a lot of tee shirts and jeans to amortize!
While I “do” the professorial look myself, I am not quite sure how wearing what (to me) looks akin to either a smoking jacket or a robe lends itself to a “laconic outdoor” look. I am not sure what I am not getting, but if anyone would be willing to explain, I would appreciate it.
Nobody wants anything but a laconic woodsman. And I hope Arlo’s not planning to use that axe; chipped blade and bent handle . . .doesn’t look too safe to me!

I bet this is the only comic strip today that uses the word “amortize” — correctly.

He’ll have a hard time pulling off the genius look if he can’t get E=mc2 right.
