You left out the expense of lengthy FDA trials that still leave them open to frivolous law suits.

A lot of that R&D is done at public universities. So yeah…
gee, i thought R&D money was from charity fun-runs, etc. Are they ripping people off?
Collectively, the top ten pharma companies spend $19 on marketing for every $1 they spend on R&D.
