Sad but true. Human nature is so quick to vilify those who are not exactly like ourselves. It is too bad we aren’t as good at doing unto others as we would have them do unto us.
No wonder Christ has taken a diminishing role in Christmas. This mythical monster of greed gets more prominent every year. If anyone took Santa out of Christmas, most American Christians would collapse in a fit of deprivation.
If the actual Jesus tried to enter the USA, looking now as he appeared when he lived, he would be precisely the type of individual all the RWNJ, Dittoheads, & Trump-cards would view with alarm and want to immediately incarcerate and/or deport. Consider the part of the world from which he came and what those populations look like. There is no rational basis for believing that he resembled a Northern European.

And the economy would collapse, also. As we’ve seen, it doesn’t take much to shake our economy to the foundations. One little Christmas would do it.

Take away Santa, and 90% of Americans would ignore the holiday.(except as a day off)

I keep thinking of a cartoon I saw many years ago. I’ll rephrase it slightly.-“Jesus is coming and boy is he ticked!”

Clement Moore was no doubt a merchandiser, most of our holidays are there to make money selling irrisistable junk we think we “Need”.
