Rent-A-Center called the police because they went to a woman’s house to repo the TV, and she wouldn’t let them in. I explained to her that the contract she signed gave them the right to come get it. She said “Wait here, I’ll unhook it.” When she let them in, she had poured water all down the inside of the TV. She said “the water bottle fell over while I was unhooking it.” I grabbed the bottle and tried to put it upright, but it was too tall for the shelf. The guy from Rent-A-Center said, “Also in that contract she signed is the responsibility for damage. So now she’s going to pay for it anyway, and won’t even have it.”
An ecumenical group has some apartments which they furnish and lend to homeless families for periods up to six months. The apartments are furnished but that doesn’t stop some of the folks from renting all sorts of stuff.
