Krillian, nothing can be “scientifically proven” except that an hypothesis is false. And as for your hypothesis, I have disproven it by doing exactly as you describe, and my heart kept going.

Maybe it’s because in the old days, if women saw a guy burping, that would indicate that he has eaten something, meaning that he kept himself fed, meaning that if he could do that, he could keep a family fed, maybe? :D
