The one point on which Obama is on the right side of sanity – the one point where he’s not a rabid Nazi arming jihadi training child-droning massmurdering war criminal – is climate change. So obviously the loony right have to attack him on it.
The Republicans are an ongoing embarrassment, but since their only objectives are power and money for themselves, they care not at all about the country. Globalization ended patriotism that’s for sure. The only reason they refuse to do anything about global extreme weather is because it does not affect them personally. Their air conditioners work fine, and if they don’t like the weather, they jet off somewhere the weather is better. Their corporate paymasters are the same. To change the Republicans it is necessary to change their paymasters. That can only be done through revolution, but they really don’t believe that will happen in their lifetimes and care no more for their children than they do for anyone else.
