Sorry to say that none of the things mentioned actually solve any problems, but, at least with the booze, you won’t care. Remember the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin: “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Cheers!

A Turing machine wouldn’t impress the Right Honorable lady. As a practical computer, it’s ridiculously restricted and inefficient, and, as a theoretical construct, it would have no evident point, the Entscheidungsproblem not having yet been stated. The best way to impress her with the aid of a time machine would be to stop off in 1959 and steal the IBM Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator (ASCC, also known as the Harvard Mark I) just before it was demolished. It wasn’t up to the full specs of the Analytical Engine, but, compared to the Analytical Engine, it enjoyed the tremendous advantage of actually existing.

More like temporary diversions and what’s so bad about a temporary diversion as long as it’s not confused with a solution?

Hey!! Wait a minute!! Am I in a time line where the Analytical Engine doesn’t exist? But I thought… Oh My God!
