This is a U.N. sponsored climate conference, so obviously it’s Obama’s fault.

Just what is Summers suggesting … that all jet airplanes be grounded? Oh yeah, we can travel internationally by windjammer! A simply illogical ’toon!

This is a theme that seems to be “evergreen” when it comes to international high level conferences on environmental issues. And, there certainly is a certain amount of irony inherent in the travel that is necessary to such a conference.Having said all that,

At present, it is really not possible to get to international agreement without some heads of state meeting face to faceAs has been noted by some, above, there is, at present, no real alternative to flight for these folks to get thereAlso, as above, the increment of flight added for such meetings is insignificant, compared to the global total of travel on any given dayFinally, this did not start with Mr. Obama; US Presidents have been flying to international venues at least as far back as EisenhowerMr. Summers is just taking what some might call a cheap shot.

@sueamarlucan saidI’ve been on an airplane less than the fingers I count on one hand and actually live by the very rhythm of climate change to sustain our entire way of life; yet because I am an American conservative I will be blamed for all the pollution being produced in other countries thousands if not millions of miles away.-thousands if not millions of miles away. ???-How big do you think this planet is anyway? The moon orbits only approx 240,000 miles from the Earth.
