The first time I saw my little Ty girl she was in that poor dog’s position exactly — a non-herding Border Collie she had been “surrendered” to an animal shelter. She didn’t even raise her head when I stopped by her run; she just raised her eyes up as if to say, “Sigh. What do YOU want?” Took her home for 13 glorious years. Crying now….
We found a young stray in our neighborhood last week. We called the no-kill Kansas City Animal Control. The lady who picked him up let him ride in the front seat and said he would be adopted quickly, as soon as they checked for owners.
We’ve had strays, dump offs, adopted and pure bred dogs. I cannot choose from ANY of them, that when they passed, did not cause the tears to flow! My wife and I have puppy prints all over our souls. We have nearly as many of all our fur kids as we have of our human kids. This ’toon tugged at my heart strings
WHHHHHHAAAAAAA, I already got the limit for dogs in this city and then the bastards at the humane society started putting pictures of pets who needed homes on an electronic billboard and now I cann’t even drive by on the express way with out getting all misty eyed :(
There are four rescue dogs in my house right now, as well as two rescue kitties, one of whom is FIV-positive and can’t be adopted out. My vet gave him to me, as he knew I’d take good care of him as long as he lives. My critters are my sanity factors – and I hope I’m theirs. ;) I’ve had many dogs and cats over the years, all strays, have loved them all, and wouldn’t be without a critter in my life. Every one of these little critters deserves a loving home. I wish I had the funds to take care of all of them in my area.

We have a rescued Greyhound and a Lab-Hound mix from a no kill shelter, two cats, an orange tabby brought to the vet hospital my husband worked at as a kitten with a broken leg, and a tuxedo female found in a bag with her siblings when they were about 3 weeks old. When I say my prayers at night I always say a prayer for homeless dogs and cats that they will find shelter on cold nights, and for pets in shelters to find their forever homes. Adopt don’t shop!!! Peace.
