We sold him the poison gas he used against both Iran and the Iraqi Kurds. Then wall street wanted the oil of Iraq for itself and the US army was sent in to steal it for them.
If Middle Easterners don’t want ISIS, they should be the boots on the ground. Foreigners fighting their fight just doesn’t work unless you want to take on permanent occupancy, which, strangely, some critics seem to be advocating.
Here’s the reality..the US has been meddling with the Middle East since the 40’s and is more than likely responsible for creating the mess that’s going on today. No I can’t absolutely know that to be true, but I can almost guarantee if we never got involved in the first place it would probably be a whole different landscape.
Iran and Saudi Arabia are fighting a series of proxy wars in the Middle East (Shi-ite versus Sunni Islam, but really a plain old power struggle). If the West puts in ground troops (again) it will accomplish several things. First, the oil companies and Halliburton (Cheney Inc.) will make yet another fortune; the defense industry will likewise; the costs of health care will go up as formerly healthy people are maimed; Saudi will no longer be able to back the West because even if it’s Shi-ite, it’s still sacred Muslim soil; and at bottom there is no end to this until they succeed in killing each other off.
It’s true that the Irish were capable, after centuries of Irish versus Anglo-Irish, to reach a level of peace, but only by splitting into two separate countries. Nonetheless, the Irish are to be commended for doing what no one else seems to be able to do. Still, all the other little rabid Muslim extremists will jump in to grab whatever power, money and territory they can should IS be defeated, and will inherit whatever is left.
This CANNOT be won. It can only be contained until they wear themselves out, or run out of young/middle aged men.
