When Obama made that statement, ISIS was a fledgling group. The purpose of a JV team is to eventually become the main team, which is what happened with ISIS. Why must the critics go back several years to find an out of date quote to criticize the President, rather than advance something more substantive themselves? Seems they are so bereft of ideas they must use the irrelevant and the obsolete. .So they get all bent out of shape at calling them jihadist terrorists rather than Islamic terrorists. They say you can’t fight them unless you accuse their entire religion. Good grief, is that all they’ve got?

The usual Obama bashing. Not a single conservative has a better plan other than starting another trillion dollar war. It is easy to criticize and very difficult to actually come up with a good plan and make it work.

And what have those thousands of air bombardments accomplished?? Bupkis…. Nada…. Zilch…… Zip. The French in just a few hours had the intell to attack the head of the snake while “our boys” have been throwing rocks at it. :( Not to disparage “our boys” In this republic of ours the military is under civilian control, and can only do what the civilian command lets it.

The conservative plan: “I’d just go over there and POW POW POW and then I’d throw a grenade BLAAAMMM and I’d nuke ‘em and everybody’d be all ‘my hero!’ only I’ve got this bad knee so just keep throwing your kids at it. Now watch this drive!”

What does Congress think we should do?

Under that old, dismal Speaker, the Town Crier, Congress never debated any part of foreign policy that I can remember, especially about Iraq, Afghanistan, and now what to do about ISIS.

Now, under the spiffy new Speaker, there are how many work days left in the year? How many of those will include Congress’ expression of what ought to be done?

What do Republican candidates think should be done?

I saw part of a CBS interview of Jeb The Fixer. He said what was needed was American Leadership. He said that about a dozen times. American Leadership.

When asked what that meant, he declined to get into ANY specifics, only that Obama wasn’t providing enough. When asked if he would support sending American troops to Syria, his answer was another non-answer.

Hatred Of Obama seems to be the Republican answer to every issue.

Still better than Dubya’s lunkheaded shoot first ask questions never “philosophy.”

How many sons and daughters is Lester willing to send off to war? I mean HIS OWN, not mine.

So if the US air strikes are ineffective why is it that that’s all France and now Canada are planning to do? Do THEY have better bombs than us that kind find and seek out the enemy?

Bush’s chickenhawk foreign policy created terrorists. Calling innocents, including children, that were killed created more. Committing war crimes and calling the victims “enemy combatants” created more. Drone strikes have created even more – so Obama’s hands aren’t clean either.
