One day I happened to be at the corner when one of those “please help” guys decided his current sign wasn’t working well enough. Opened up a backpack full of different signs, and pulled out a new one. He could have gone to work for a sign company, but I guess panhandling was more to his liking. He probably describes himself as “Self-employed”.
