Really though, we need to establish a threshold of significance when it comes to declaring what can cause cancer. After all, everything but the purist environment has SOME chance of causing it. Even then, there may be a genetic factor where one can contract cancer no matter what. The point being that if too many things are believed to cause cancer, then there can be a backlash of apathy. After all, why bother if you do not believe that you can win?

Guilt seems to make things more desirable. My grandmother’s weekend breakfast with bacon or ham was a treat a dozen times a year and guilt-free at the time, but it would be ordinary if was a daily meal and knowing what the data is, not really enjoyable. I will still eat bacon just not as often, but the guilt will make it taste better.

My grandfather died of colon cancer brought on by processed meats, most likely.

It’s more about chemicals than meat. But a serious consideration is that MODERATION, and a BALANCED diet works out best. These warnings about those chemicals, and chemical reactions, are pretty old, and documented, and still not a reason to panic.
