@lilmnmI think the joke is about eggs being larger in the olden days, so that they made more of a mess when they were thrown, rather than having anything to do with the volcano. I don’t think those are cooked eggs on the cave, but raw ones.

In the midst of all the egg yolks — er, jokes — did anyone notice that the guys inside the cave look like Fred and Barney from The Flintstones? Their outfits, anyway.
