How often do these mass murders have to happen to get some action? The President had it right when he points out we spend trillions on Homeland Security and nothing on guns safety even though the body count is much, much higher for gun violence.

This is no time to talk about gun control! It’s too soon before the next tragic incident!

There has a mass shooting more than once every day so far this year. According to Payne, you can never, never deal with a problem as it’s happening. Let’s see conservatives apply the same logic to illegal immigration and insurance coverage for birth control, shall we?

Right, because it is the gun that kills people. How many lives would have been saved by gun control in Boston or Oklahoma? Or should we ban pressure cookers and moving vans as well?

In the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a student went in killing rampage with a knife, he killed and wounded some of his classmates. No one is concerned as to how many knives did he had at home, did he obtain his knife illegally, and the country is not in a panic to ban all knives. The main concern is how to console those who lost loved ones, and what drove that poor man to do such an act, and how can he be helped in order to avoid the same tragedy. I know many of you would say; good thing he didn’t have a gun or the tragedy would’ve been greater. Refrain yourselves, that is just you being petty and malicious, one person dead is tragic enough. Whether is guns, knives, cars, drugs, or just plain stupidity, the main point should be to help the victims and to help the perpetrators so it wont happen again. Enforce the existing laws, and be aware that the more laws to control and protect are created the more freedom you give to those who want to have tyranny over you, legislating freedoms away is very easy, but very hard to get the freedoms back, usually it cost many more lives.

And Payne in that coffin is the life of a human being cut short because a gun manufacturer is more concerned with “$” You tell me, which is worse, jackass.

And next week the NRA will schedule a meeting in Umpqua to pander their snake oil that “If only you had a gun you would be safer.”

“I see your roof is leaking, why don’t you fix it?”“Can’t fix it when it’s raining.”“Why don’t you fix it when it’s not raining?”“Then it don’t leak.”

    Congress should act.

I mean, why should anyone be allowed to talk about gun violence, especially mass shootings?

We already have laws prohibiting the collection of reliable statistics, which prevents any research.

Mass shootings are just natural phenomena that happen spontaneously at random places. Since they are natural, nothing can or should be done about them.

Just stop people from talking about it.

I’m a gun owner, hunter (today is opening day of deer season), combat veteran, and spent nearly a decade in law enforcement carrying a gun every day. I strongly support the Second Amendment, especially those words “well-regulated militia” wihich until very recently DID MEAN, a right to “arms” if in the militia (National Guard) and all other ownership was a defended PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. And yes, in a well regulated manor, I do support that “privilege”.

Obama admitted the killings should be politicized. What does the GOP say?

    “Stuff happens.”

@mwbarrObama says that because it’s good for HIS political benefit. As always, as long as he has the microphone he’ll blow the trumpet for more treatment of symptoms, never mind the real solution. We all already know that existing laws are not effective, and more laws will be just as ineffective, as long as the mental state of the perpetrator or possible perpetrators are not treated, the problem will persist. Case in point; why aren’t there stricter laws and enforcement for drunk driving, why are the tobacco producers (spite of all the deaths) still producing. Now you see the correlation of political benefit and the President’s own failings.

Again, our problems with deadly violence seems to be based lower than mere gun control. Our American society revels in its enjoyment of violent movies, TV/Cable shows and video games. Our judicial system is of little help. If we really want to live in a safer society, we have to re-examine our way of living, our choices, our laws, education, community standards. Even if we all decide to do this, it won’t happen overnight. Old habits die hard, and there are not only too many guns out there, but many angry, frightened and alienated people as well. We have to start sometime!
