If the congress we have now were in place and addressed by a black pope it should count as one of that pope’s miracles – if he survived

That was just a little before there were racial categories of “black” and “white”. (And yes, there are historical descriptions of folks’ skin color, hair color, etc., but they weren’t overarching racial categories like we have now.) Added to which, Gelasius was from North Africa, and therefore most likely wouldn’t have fallen under the current rubric of “black” in the first place.

That’s not the assumption. The assumption is that Republican congressmen would react that way. And they’ve given plenty of evidence that this would, indeed, be the case. Especially if he were to speak about such crazy things as—gasp—climate change.

In fact, Obama was saying that undocumented immigrants would not be able to participate in the federal health exchange under the ACA. And, lo and behold, they are not allowed to participate in it. So…how exactly was that a lie?

What exactly does this have to do with the health care exchange? If you’re going to make an argument, make it about what was actually stated. Sheesh.

#1: This was not a State of the Union address. Since 1934, those have been held in either January or February. This address to the joint houses was given on September 9.

#2: There were no access centers mandated by the ACA specifically to allow for undocumented immigrants. It happens that for the most part any health care facility will not check someone’s migrant status before rendering care. By the logic of you and your far-right-wing news source (that you conveniently didn’t provide an actual link to), any hospital that receives Obamacare funds and happens to serve migrant populations—including undocumented immigrants—renders him a liar on this matter. It’s a pretty flimsy basis for your argument, but if it makes you happy, have fun with it.

#3: From Wikipedia, which actually does list its references (those numbers in brackets that I’ve taken out here for clarity’s sake): “Section 246 of the bill, titled ‘NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS,’ states: ‘Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.’ The bill did, however, require some to purchase health insurance who were not explicitly restricted from the proposed Health Insurance Exchange. The Obama administration later stated that, in the final bill, these people would not be able to participate in the Exchange. Specific language was subsequently included when the Senate healthcare-reform plan was introduced on September 16 which prohibits participation in the insurance exchange by persons not lawfully present in the U.S.”

All of which is to say, you and your right-wing spin machine are still quite wrong. Sorry.

    1. Are you actually replying to my factual correction of you, or are you once again demonstrating your talent for ignoring both basic facts and reasoned arguments.

    2. You have helpfully burnished your anti-immigrant credentials. Congratulations. (And yes, I know all the protestations about not being against legal immigrants, but in my experience, the folks yelling loudest about the folks they call “illegal” are those who wish immigration would just slow down in general.)

    3. You apparently did not actually read point #2. You have drunk the far-right-wing koolaid, and have proven again how blinded you are to anything that doesn’t fit your preconceived notions. I’ll just leave you to your bubble. Don’t expect another reply on this matter.

If this "Jesus " guy existed, he could fix climate change in less time than it takes you to blink. He doesn’t, so I doubt he exists.

Or even better., he could have designed things so this simply doesn’t happen. Same way the atmosphere was designed so it cannot just burst into flame.

Simple trick for any real god.
