Here’s how my vet taught me to give a cat a pill. Gently but firmly grab by scruff of neck Catch both ears in the hand holding scruff of next and pull ears back. Again remember firm but Gentle. The cat’s mouth will auto pop open and with most cats they’ll be so discombobulated by the ear + scruff hold they will, for a few seconds, not remember to claw.Quickly stick pill as far back in the mouth as possible with your other hand. Then blow gently into the cats nose while your slowly loosening your grip on the ears. (Blowing air into their nose makes them swallow.)Get your face the heck out of the way.Works pretty well and reduces chances of injury to both cat and you!Don’t freak about holding a cat by the scruff and ears. It’s how a mother cat holds/carries a kitten. They are built for it. And mother cats probably do it this way cause they also aren’t too fond of tangling with the business ends of a kitten either. Those tiny claws are Sharp!
