The game is going to last about the same length regardless of flags. If less penalties, then there will be more TV commercial time outs added. I was at a game which was moving very quickly (lots of running and staying inbounds) and the number of TV timeouts were crazy.
“An average professional football game lasts 3 hours and 12 minutes, but if you tally up the time when the ball is actually in play, the action amounts to a mere 11 minutes.”
When you think of it in those terms, it’s kind of a waste of time to watch in real time.
As an aside, commercials take up about 100 minutes of the time.
And the NFL only charges $99.99 for the package, a lot less than running a commercial. I just can’t see buying the package when the Bears are that bad, maybe next year.
