ColoradoRon, sadly racism is not gone. OVERT racism is down, but the system is still in place that tends to give opportunities to those with the privilege of white skin, that values the lives of young black men far less than the lives of young white men (just check the news of the high school rapists of last year, vs what happens to black teenagers walking along the street or at a pool party), that puts laws in place (or close driver licensing bureaus in heavily black areas) to make voting more difficult for People Of Colour, and don’t miss the comments sections on conservative websites. We have a LONG way to go, and we will have to face the problems to overcome them. Declaring “Mission Accomplished” simply does not do the job.
