In all these years, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that view of Tracy like the one in panel 3! Nice sentiments today between Mysta & Honeymoon! Good to see!And an early “Good Morn’in’ to VBR!

It’s interesting that Mysta calls him “Tracy,” like Junior does. I’m not sure if that means anything. It’s just that I’ve never seen her refer to him that way before. If memory serves, it’s always been “Mr. Tracy” until now. Did the original Moon Maid ever called him “Tracy?”

This is the second time that we’ve seen Mysta drinking out of an MCU cup. The first was at Junior’s place on June 14, and now at the police station. I like to think this is a hint she’s going to work more closely with the police in the future, like the original Moon Maid. Nothing would make me happier, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too high.

These are beautiful panels. Not only is Joe Staton’s work on Dick Tracy getting better and better, but today’s coloring job is very pleasing, too. The middle panel with Mysta is especially lovely. Great job, gocomics!

I like the way Honeymoon praises Mysta. It’s completely believable that she would do that at her stage of life and development, considering Mysta came to her rescue. There’s something supernal about the growing connection between those two. I always enjoy seeing them together and I’m glad they’ve become a team.

Pequod, you have captured in your poem what I was just trying to say about Mysta and Honeymoon. Only you did it better than I did. Thank you for that.

A moment of reflectiveness, sipping coffee. Mysta needs to ready herself for any future encounter with Mr. Bigg. The idea that Diet might work with her on countering Mr. Bigg’s weapon is a good one, JonahHex….

Seems like poor little orphan Annie isn’t Honeymoon’s best friend any more. Oh well.

If she is her own person, why is Mysta wearing the throwback bathing suit outfit of her namesake? It’s an awfully flimsy thing to run after criminals in. I get the “superhero/alien race” aspect of the outfit, but a one piece bathing suit and thigh high stiletto boots make you look silly.

That was a wonderful strip today. The sweet interaction between Honey, and Mysta, the eye candy for the gentlemen, and enjoyment overall of the strip. Nicely done Team Tracy.

While it will undoubtedly be a while before Mysta gets her next story (curse the wait), the changes for her and Honeymoon can’t be denied. They are positioned for a very exciting continuation of the “Mysta Reborn” saga. Bribery’s insults raised the issue of her (re)creation and identity, which will be in play whenever the Lunarians make an appearance. This meeting will have a profound impact on Mysta, but Honeymoon will also play a part. Establishing a relationship with her Lunarian grandparents would be an interesting development. Today’s strip is a very satisfying glimpse of Onee-San and Imoto-Chan in the aftermath of the thrilling Ace Tower action. Annie is undoubtedly being spirited back to Daddy Warbucks by her own protector, Punjab. It’s no longer late-September, and she really should be back in school. Mysta and Honeymoon’s friendship is a vital pillar of this exceptional strip. Sam and Tracy have again waded into danger, shown that crime doesn’t pay, and made Tracyville a safer place.

Yeah, there were “soft” moments. But not lasting 2 weeks! Me an’ SDM are wanting to get back to the rumble! Bad guys are afoot! Patton coulda hired another cop to replace Teevo for what he spent on MCU coffee mugs!

I was curious whether the original Moon Maid ever called Tracy by his last name, so I went back to the beginning of her story. As far as I can tell, the first time she ever addressed Tracy directly, by name, was on September 11, 1964 (during the Chet Jade story), as “Mr. Tracy.” She repeated the same address the following two days. Again, I don’t recall her ever addressing Tracy more informally than that, even though others around him often did (e.g., Lizz, Sam, and Junior). Here are the panels I referred to from Sept. 11-13, 1964.

A great strip is again followed by numerous thoughtful posts. I’d single out yumpinyiminey’s very smart post on the importance of comic characters’ iconic appearance (spring-boarding off of Jim in CT’s post), with added applause for Willy’s excellent panels in response to 60s Fan’s query regarding the use of “Tracy,” as opposed to “Mr. Tracy.” I enthusiastically agree with yumpinyiminey’s wise notions on the links between character and “costume.” The stunning panels shared by Willy007 cite uses of “Mr. Tracy,” while reminding us of Gould’s use of place. We shift between inside and outside the house as Mysta speaks with (Mr.) Tracy. The final panel speaks to Gould’s sometimes bold nod toward pop art. Sam’s head appears to grow out of Tracy’s shoulder, even as a patrolman rises in profile from Sam’s hat. Mysta and Junior are ready for the Roy Lichtenstein treatment.

Thank you all for your prayers. The McCary family will need them as they deal with the loss of the father and as the daughter recovers from her injuries. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with the funeral and hospital expenses. Have a peaceful night my friends.

I almost forgot to check in today! I’m glad I didn’t! What a beautiful strip today! Mysta and Honeymoon, oh my, I love them so much! I identify so much with what Honey says because Moon Maid was my heroine when I was a girl! What a wonderful thing to see Mysta become the NEW MOON MAID! I never in my wildest dreams thought we would ever have another, and yet here she is! I’m very excited as you can tell! Thank you to the Tracy team for making me one happy camper!!
