Sometimes big trucks have practical uses, but most people don’t need them. They are suffering from an overdose of testosterone, or compensating for a lack of something.I work at a garden center. Sometimes people are afraid to get their trucks dirty. The pickups with just 4 or 5 foot long beds are just tall, boxy cars with open trunks. It’s a pain to try to load them with bulk mulch in a 6 foot backhoe bucket.I drive a 15 year old hybrid that gets 64 mpg. It hauls my butt and everything I can afford to buy in one day. I drive it most of the time. I have a small 12 year old 4WD pickup for big loads or wintery roads. I save $75 a month over driving the same miles with the truck only. I expect someday there will be an electric AWD van or pickup that could replace those. What will rednecks will do for noise when everything is electric?

Why don’t we outlaw such vehicles ? We could have the government decide what type of vehicle (if any) each individual should have.

Big pickups are for people who are embarrassed to drive big SUVs because they never take them off-road. But with a truck, you can always say, “I may have to haul stuff some day.”I saw a review of a souped-up p/u that was $83,000. The host said, “It sounds like like a lot until you see average trucks for sale at $60,000.”

The Tesla Model X full-size SUV debuts in mid-2016 at around $70,000. It will pave the way for better, cheaper electric cars, and eventually trucks. Maybe in 15 years I can afford a used one. You can Google more links about it.http://www.teslamotors.com/modelx

If you are a male in Texas and you do not drive a truck, then it is obvious that you are gay.

To say nothing of “he’s the one paying the price.”Well, yes and no; he keeps prices up for the rest of us, uses resources that are becoming more scarce, and puts more greenhouse gases in everybody’s air.

When I had to look up to see the door handles of a pickup from my Lotus, that was reasonable. Now I have to look up to see the door handles of pickups from my Trooper SUV!!! These things are not ludicrous!

A couple years back NPR reported that because of the recession, people were now only buying pickup trucks to actually haul stuff in. That was short-lived.

Some of us live in rural areas. We need to haul stuff to maintain our grounds. Paying the stores to haul for us is very expensive. Being in a rural area is also why we have guns. My neighbor’s alarm went off, and it took the cops 45 minutes to arrive. They had trouble locating the address when they did show.

I bought a V-8 4wd F-150 and am averaging 20 mpg. For as little as I drive, that’s good enough for me.
