So, is Derek a Senior? I mean who cares, all the schools I know are already graduated and closed down, so he never sees these bums again while he spends the rest of his life touring the country in tricked out Bus with Cassie and Tuck
I predict he blows off the game for his shot at fame. But his 15 minutes of fame turns out to be the Longshots playing in a tent outside the venue before the show even starts with a dozen other local acts and nobody pays attention.
Instead of getting the silent treatment from the team, one of the players gets in a punchout with Derek, which is broken up by Gil before anything more than a black eye or two. Cassie tries to save the day by videotaping the fight and posting it on Youtube. Regret (and a good alt country song) ensues.

Backyard Tire Fire is going to attend the Friday game and decide to blow off the concert because it will interfere with Saturday’s championship.
This will inspire Derek to write a song that takes Backyard Tire Fire to a cross-over runaway hit.
