Nice try, but it still won’t knock The Donald off his perch.

A whole lot of work to swing one Democrat over to their side (Kim Davis, I understand, was elected to her position as a Democrat).

Man, things are desperate for the Republicans.

I have no respect for her, but to put her in jail was a joke. She was elected to the position and wouldn’t follow federal law. There should have been a recall election or she should have been thrown out of office.

Now, with that being said I guess we should start at the top and recall or throw President Obama out of office for not enforcing federal laws he doesn’t like or aren’t beneficial to him (or should we put him in jail for a bit as well).

Aside from the fact that the “traditional” or “Biblical” definition of marriage is irrelevant in a secular society based on the separation of state from church/temple/synagogue/mosque, these Bible illiterates are completely clueless as to what the “Biblical” definition of marriage even is! For most of human history and around the world, and especially the Biblical variety, “traditional marriage” has meant one man with multiple underage prepubescent females of the same ethnic tribe, as a property agreement in arranged marriages in exchange for a dowry (possibly goats, cows and sheep), maintaining “dominion” over these wives in the same way as his herds, flocks and other livestock. Marrying a divorced person was definitely out, though marrying your brother’s widow (in addition to the wives you already have) was way cool. And if you want to follow strictly the Biblical definition of marriage, it also means that an unmarried rape victim must be forced to marry her rapist (Deut 22:28-29). Fortunately, marriage has been EVOLVING and being redefined for millennia.http://danizier.wordpress.com/2011/04/21/christianity-and-culture/

    ^good points, Wiz.

As to pandering, the whole right side has been shameless, including most of all “The Donald”, pandering to the very worst in our society.

Better put Shameless Pandering in a dress or a wig, after all God told Kim to never sign a marriage licence for two men, came down on a cloud one night and sat on her bedside and told her that. I guess God also erased that messy bit about multiple marriages and children from an affair that’s in the Bible…nope I just checked, she should be stoned (rocks, not whatever lets her commune with God) a few times over.

My father had a complete run of Astounding starting from the early 1930s (and also later on Galaxy and F&SF and Unknown and random issues of some others), so when I was a kid in the 1960s I read a lot of the early stuff in the magazine versions. I read “If This Goes On…” in the magazine version; it was later expanded and published as Revolt in 2100. I can still remember the cover of the 1939 issue with big tanks breaking through the walls of the citadel. In those days Heinlein would often have two stories in a single issue, one under his real name and one under the name Anson McDonald.

I inherited the collection, but it was too much for me to haul around. Some of it got damaged in a flood, but I was able to donate a lot of it to the Merril science fiction library in Toronto. (I got to know Judy Merril pretty well, and through her I met a number of science fiction writers, including Asimov and Chip Delaney; but I repaid the favor: I introduced her to Carl Sagan. My Dad knew a few of the old pulp writers (Ted Cogswell and Norvell Page) and I met them when I was a kid. I was pretty impressed.
