Happened to someone I knew. She was getting married. Her boss told her to move the date, three days before the event. She threatened to hand over her resignation, with full explanation, and he suddenly decided that it could wait until the next Monday.
I got a call at about ona AM from my boss telling me to join him at the plant. He just didn’t want to handle the problem himself, and it could have been resolved over the phone.

This sequence would’ve ended wonderfully with Rita getting a call from HER bosses that she didn’t want to hear.
