My son says his high school has a hall monitor that looks like Walker. The hall monitor delights in turning people in for small infractions, and is a big brown-nose. Walker’s face is unsymmetrical and, I hate to say it, doesn’t look trustworthy. He should hire a make-up adviser. A shallow thing to say, but as in most things, a good appearance matters.

Walker made anti-immigrant statements on Monday when talking to some conservative radio show, then got a threatening phone call from one of his billionaire backers (billionaires generally like immigration, because it is really a huge benefit for America and the economy.) So now he’s changed his mind 180 degrees. He’s not his own man, he’s a puppet of those who fund him.

Abraham Lincoln was a superior human being, and his face reflected his secret sorrows. Had he appeared in photographs seen by the general public, he wouldn’t have been elected, even so. The standard of beauty vs. worth in those days was not as artificial as it it today. And he cleverly made his homely appearance a plus, equating it in his campaigns with honesty. .As it was, editorial cartoons often depicted him as an ungainly ape. In these times, superficial appearance is very important, unfair though that might be. Trust me, if Walker goes further in his candidacy, he will get a professional appearance make-over. He photographs very poorly, and while that’s not his fault, it is something that he can correct..My comment was an opinion, not a value judgment of existential worth. By the way, Walker is certainly better looking than I am, so I do have sympathy for him in that area..I notice that Danzinger has somewhat captured the unsymmetrical form of Walker’s face, so that is a flaw that does not go unnoticed.

I’m originally from Wisconsin and was initially in favor of Walker not only because of his birthplace but because of how he has domesticated the public sector unions. But listening to him talk on stage I have moved away from him.

He has firmly established himself as the darling of the anti-abortion crowd (They aren’t pro-life they are just in favor of controlling women’s reproductive options) by saying what they have wanted to hear for a long time which is “No abortions ever – and I don’t care if the woman was raped or is in danger”.

I want a Republican nominee that is worried about the economy, how to keep the infrastructure up to date, and how to take power away from the government and give it back to the people.

Once a candidate starts talking about how they will limit rights to this group or that group -I know It’s only a matter of time before they will limit rights to my group.

Yeah, but not a lot of people remember that Abe was a very shrewd politician. He knew how to play off his looks. “How could a man this homely NOT be a regular guy?”

“Give me your rich, your callous, yearning to defecate on all those less fortunate in their inheritances, yearning to own it all.”— GOP revision of the statement on the Statue of Liberty.

Yep – I was very pleased. Pretty much everything I voted for won, too! I did a quick analysis of the data (the Hugos provide all the data from the nominations) to see what the gender split would have been had all the Puppy candidates disappeared. Very interesting: the nominees with Puppies: 74.4% male. Without: 49.5% male. So much for the claim that the Puppies were restoring diversity to the Hugos.Bottom line to me: people voted against the slate concept, and this is fine by me. Beale is of course claiming victory and retreating.
