The really funny part about this cartoon is that the equivalent of ‘minority outreach’ has worked so successfully with the evangelicals. Evangelicals (and other Fox “news” viewers) have no idea how much they are held in contempt by Republican elites.
That’s why they are so shocked and feel betrayed when the Republicans they elect don’t shut the government down or do anything to stop illegals coming for jobs. And they still believe that if they just hate Obama enough, all their problems will go away.
Do Fox “news” viewers even know that the Bushes are close personal friends and business partners with the Saudis?
Wasting your time. IS is practicing the thuggish art so clearly explicated in Harry G. Frankfurt’s work, and yes, they know exactly what they’re doing.
“The Republicans are these days despicable to others not white, yet they want their votes to win and repress them some more. That is certainly a case of “having your cake and eat it too.””
Actually, I was thinking more of the whites, as in how the Southern Strategy works.
A good example is how many jobs have been lost in coal mining areas because of automation and cheaper natural gas. A large number of those people are unemployed and get unemployment insurance, food stamps, and disability.
And yet, they hate all those things and are convinced that the only reason they don’t have a job is because of Obama’s War On Coal.
Many of them are also convinced that unions, safety regulations, and environmental regulations are all horrible.
Republican elites hold those people in contempt and they have no clue that that is the case.
The rural poor tend to vote Republican, Tom, and the Democrats work to help the poor through such things as Minimum Wage, Social Security, Medicaid, Obamacare, etc., while Republicans do everything they can to block such programs and keep the poor poor, so there’s more for the rich. Not hard to understand why some poor folks vote Democratic. The tragedy is how the far-right have used religion and other hooks to trick the rural poor into voting to keep themselves poor.

The rare self neutering animal driving itself towards extinction at an accelerating pace. As with climate change it remains in denial.

I love it! Just add a brown stripe down his nose and he’d look just like my Peanut!
It’s also a great statement.

Truly fine art work, Clay.

I agree. He thinks visually. He can find a visual image that makes a cognitive point. I think Toles is another who does that very well.
