Ted Rall for August 13, 2015
Transcript:
The LAPD told the L.A. times to fire me. Editorial page editor Nick Goldberg called. Like Pringle, Goldberg was clearly convinced I was a fabulist. (Man 1: You can't hear your license hitting the ground.) (Man 2: What?! How could you hear that?) 3 days later, Goldberg fired me. (Man: We've agonized over this for a week, tomorrow we're running an "editor's note" explaining that, due to discrepancies between our story and the tape, we're no longer using your stuff.) I've stayed up half the night writing a rebuttal to Goldberg's and Pringle's pretzel logic. (Of course the COP sounds courteous as he's acting mean. HE knew he was being taped!) Some of my fans e-mailed me. (I'm an audio expert. If you email me the LAPD recording I'll try to clean it up.

If only Ted would give Republicans the same benefit of the doubt he expects for himself.

The Republicans leave no room for that. Their pandering to the nut fringe is well documented as is their sucking up to the rich and powerful.

Vindication coming – but will the LA Times reverse course and put your work back in their paper?(If they do, you should add a link to Rallblog in every toon).

Do you want some cheese with that? Go turn on your television. Is that device your servant or your master? Rall is a political cartoonist. His primary purpose is to make you think. You should try it some day, i know that, as a conservative, you are used to just reacting.

Police abusing their power is an issue of the day. Thinking would lead you to that concept. Reacting leads to the conclusion that this (and yesterday’s cartoon & the next one) are just about Rall’s personal life.

What, the police lying? Perish the thought.

So frustratingly sad that LA Times has succumbed to LAPD pressure – nothing arresting on the paper’s wimpy editorial pages any more. This is a time when we need leaders in the media – with backbone and clarity – to stand up against LAPD when necessary, to confront its ongoing history of hidden wrongs.
