I would vote for water balloons.

As a kid, I would have been disappointed if they DIDN’T use swords.

I’m with WoodEye, water balloons would have allowed even the kids to get in the battle,Think of Show and Tell the first day of school: “I got to fight along side my Dad in a real Pirate Battle” Ooooh too cool!

How about feathers.

I was injured in a pirate battle in Beaufort NC. I got hit over the head with an oar. Some wenches just don’t want to be absconded. Perhaps we should have stuck to the script.Durn, that hurt.
