I complained about the roaches on the bedroom walls near the bed. The landlord told me to pull the bed away from the wall. I said, “I did, but the bugs keep pulling it back.!”

It’s not just the number, it’s the size. At the Air Force base near Houston, there was a running joke that a mosquito landed on the runway and they accidentally refueled it.

I went into an apartment to cat-sit, and when I turned the light on I could HEAR them scuttling for cover. No, I don’t mean the cats.

Woman in tropical country whose patience has reached its limit: “Why are there so many bugs in the bed?”

Landlord: “Because they’re not safe on the floor.”

I lived in Florida for a bit, and going to the bathroom in the middle of the night saw a cockroach there. I was tired; I told it if it was there in the morning I’d get it, and then I went back to bed, stepping over my cat on the floor under the ceiling fan. I awoke to a crunching noise, and in the morning found pieces of bug under the fan: it had followed me, and ran into my guard-cat! Who also caught lizards outside, and brought them in to play/eat in the A/C.
