Not so much that they can’t do a “stunt-roll” on camera…

I totally support body cams. One would have seen the person who on a car stop killed a friend of mine years ago, and was never caught. My son’s friend (a Sheriff’s deputy) badly injured by a perp in January, would also have proof of what went down, and the guy could serve big “time”.

At the same time, idiot murderers like this latest university “rent a cop” will also go down in flames.

It does, and should, work both ways, protecting cops from bad citizens, and protecting citizens from bad cops.

Which BTW; assaults on pollice officers dropped drastically in jurisdictions using cameras, as did charges of police brutality when the proof is documented of what actually happened.

lied : " Body cam video of an officer on the ground after being dragged by a career criminal didn’t keep him from being charged with murder.“

    The truth:

”[Hamilton County prosecutor Joseph] Deters, who was visibly angered at points during the press conference, continued: “He [Tensing] wasn’t dealing with someone who was wanted for murder, OK? He was dealing with someone who didn’t have a front license plate. This is, in the vernacular, a pretty chicken-crap stop, all right? And – I could use harsher words.</i

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years,” he added. “This is the most asinine act I’ve ever seen a police officer make, totally unwarranted.”

Will the use of body-worn cameras by the police protect them or us? – The Guardian, UK, Oct. 2013

“and cites the arrival of research from Rialto in California, which found that a camera attached to a police officer’s hat, shoulder, collar or custom-built Oakley sunglasses brought about more than a 50% reduction in the use of force by officers and reduced complaints by 90%. So should body-worn cameras be standard?”

What Happens When Police Officers Wear Body Cameras – Wall Street Journal, Aug. 2014

"Use of force by police officers declined 60% in first year since introduction of cameras in Rialto, Calif.

The pros & cons, according to a Police Forum

Poll Results: Cops speak out about body cameras – Police One.com, Nov. 2014

“We polled nearly 1,500 PoliceOne Facebook fans to find out what thoughts and concerns our law enforcement community has today about body cameras.”

Read them, it makes for intresting reading.
