Thatababy by Paul Trap for August 05, 2015

Who, like, says “like” between their sentences these days? I know Shaggy of “Scooby-Doo”, like" said it all the time, but that was, like, a 1970s cartoon.

I would have thought that Thatadad would LOVE Thatababy to talk nerd with him! (No offense meant to nerds- I’m one myself!)

I suspect uptalk (or whatever replaces it) would be more likely for a teen thatababy than excess use of “like”. He’s not writing this strip for teens though…He’s writing for people who would identify with excess use of like as teenagers. Point made: goofy speech patterns are likely targeting increased parental/adult authority figure attention.

I’m curious as to whether thatababy is going to wind up aging or not over the long run of the strip. Does anyone know if Mr. Trap answers questions on here?

You are what you learn. I’ve never read (almost wrote “heard”, but you know what I mean) the parents “like” talk like that to “like” mess up the baby in “like” that way.

Texting has pretty much eliminated the over-use of “like” (thank the maker!) – takes up valuable letters, or space or minutes, or somethin’…

Except that no one actually uses “like” that many times. It’s a cliche.
