trout,
You’re a parrot. At this point, I am not interested in whether Bush and Cheney were worse. I do not see the current administration and Congress living up to their promises of transparency and honesty. I am interested in being able to hold our current politicans accountable without using the past excesses as a smokescreen.
zeke,
Quote: “Accusations, do not make a crime. Shall we add this one with the Rest ?
But let’s start from the Beginning. Let’s see now, Where is that Birth Certificate ? Terrious Muslim ? Fascist, Socialist, taking over the Government, Taking over GM, Taking over the Banks, Taking over Health Care, Taking over Wall st. Bankrupting the Country, and turning the country into Communist.”
That delusion. You seem to read selectively.
Again,
I am not interested in rehashing the Bush administration. I am tired of Bush/Cheney showing up in any attempt to discuss the current administration’s failings.
Gladius–take a deep breath and oxygenate your brain.
Sad to think your big, bad, know it all conservative machine that protects everything our nation holds dear allowed a man (mixed race, even!) to ascend to the highest office of our republic–GASP! Without proof of citizenship!!
Personally, I wish you guys would do a better job protecting me.
zeke,
Perhaps you should take your own advice. I find it interesting that this is suddenly about race. I couldn’t care less about Obama’s race and again you are still participating in senor’s fantasy that I had any truck with the birther issue. I suppose I should have checked with this big conservative machine I’m supposed to belong to.
Gimme a break.
All of this is pure smoke and mirrors. It gets in the way of actually discussing the incident that generated the above
Bauer concluded that nothing improper had taken place and that “allegations of improper conduct rest on factual errors and lack a basis in the law.” Contrary to allegations by many conservative pundits, Bauer found that Sestak had not been offered the position of secretary of the Navy. Bauer concluded that discussions about “alternatives” to a Senate campaign by Sestake were proper.
“The Democratic Party leadership had a legitimate interest in averting a divisive primary fight and a similarly legitimate concern about the Congressman vacating his seat in the House,” Bauer wrote. “There have been numerous, reported instances in the past when prior Administrations – both Democratic and Republican, and motivated by the same goals – discussed alternative paths to service… . Such discussions are fully consistent with the relevant law and ethical requirements.”

” … do you or do you not believe America should have invaded Iraq?”
In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and considering Saddam’s continued defiance of the UN and its inspectors, the removal / government change was imperative.
A few decades earlier, we would have sent a team of CIA operatives and affected an overthrow of the regime … .
However, in the aftermath of the Watergate, the Democrats have affected a very effective castration of our intelligence services, which left us with little choice …
0bama didn’t argue against going into Iraq by reasoning that there were WMD’s, but rather wanting to appease Saddam some more - a strategy that has worked miracles, time and again.
If there is enough evidence to warrant a prosecution, prosecute.
If there is enough evidence to give a verdict, give it.
It’s that simple.
“In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and considering Saddam’s continued defiance of the UN and its inspectors, the removal / government change was imperativ”
Peter, maybe you’ve forgotten, but Saddam backed down… just before the bombings started.
Morons and neocons are paired stars, rotating around each other, heading for their own destruction, in a galaxy called “Stupid 9/11” where ignorance reigns, ignoring their origin and their path.
zeke,
The justification for the war in Iraq has been debated endlessly in this forum. My comment was and still is that we should be able to discuss the pro’s and con’s of the current administration without the constant recourse to “everything is Bush’s fault.” Unlike some on this board I have not stooped to twisted versions of our President’s name nor attempt to deny that he is my President. Both of which were and are quite common with many of the left in regards to the previous administration. I do not believe that everything the current administation has done is wrong but I have some serious problems with its direction. I have more problems with our current Congress, not only with Democrats. You have enthusiastically attempted to marginalize me by accusing me of beliefs held by the far right fringe. All that tells me is that you don’t really read my posts. That’s fine. It’s a common practice here.
Florida, Alaska, Orange County, California, West Virginia, Louisiana had Huey Long year ago, Oklahoma with Conrad and Inhofe, the sad fact of our political system is that few areas avoid having “franchises on stupidity and graft” over the years. Both parties, as well as “independents” and Libertarians have variants from the human norm. Or, unfortunately , maybe it IS becoming the human norm here. Altruism and empathy, even in some of our wealthy folks who DO INDEED do good works, after ripping people off, confuse any attempt at blanket condemnations. There ARE a few, who have so egregiously violated the norm, they do deserve condemnation- and the vast majority of them are the supporters, aids, appointees, and others who are NOT the leaders who get the public flack.
Harding, Boss Tweed, Long, even Andrew Carnegie was more a scoundrel than “savior”- who did “repent”.
Jumping at ANY momentary lapse, omission, or even good deed, confuses us- we really do need to look beyond today, or even tomorrow to see real facts.
OK, Gladius–fair enough. I will admit to lumping you with the Limbaugh crowd. That was an error on my part.
I have read your posts, and upon further inspection of such, I’ll admit to being swept up in the “us v. them” hyperbole in regard to left/right slug fests. For that I apologize. You come across as far more level headed than most, and I missed that ennui.
Well, gotta run–time for chow. Thanks for being civil in response to the fresh start.
One can only imagine the workings of a tortured soul the likes of Lord O.
Hey senor! I lived in Solana Beach the winter of 1979. All the beach towns along that way were a blast. Good food, good (but crowded) surf, and the nut cases were few and far between.
Ugh, suuuure. Boo hoo, the other guys are priviledged. Oh woe is us.
GC hasn’t been exactly hard on right-wing ones, either, and there are a lot of people who aren’t exactly moderates on the right who have been here for a while. I think it might have more to do with in personal insults, although GC tends to be quite tolerant of these as well.
WC–is furnituremaker actively making furniture? Love to know.
senor–we would of stayed longer, but…that money in our pocket thing took me and one carpenter compadre on yet another road trip. From Calexico south to Guatemala and then back six months later up Baja and home through Tijuana. What a trip it was.
My ‘78 Chevy p/u “Big Ten” three on the tree was sorta new when we left summer of ‘79–not quite so fresh when we returned!
Hmmm, Senor, are you implying that the Ken Starr in the piece you were citing above is the same Ken Starr who was the special prosecutor during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal? If so, sorry, but you are wrong. Not the same Ken Starr, not even close.

Well, senor while living in north county SD I was a carpenter on the road…now, the houses we framed in La Jolla!!–that was large scale money.
We scored a killer rental in Solana Beach. Up the hill, right “across the tracks”. There were two big time avocado trees in our backyard!
The we I speak of is me and my two close friend/carpenter buddies who decided to cross the nation “bending nails” in search of fortune and fame.
Ah, the memories…
