Recruiters have never been armed, it’s part of the sales pitch to make potential recruits NOT think about the reality of the military, number one job is training to kill.

trvths, the muslims need a strong intelligent, peaceful leader; a Ghandhi. Not crazy Imams, interpreting the Koran to the detriment of all. We are facing a religious war and must confront Islam with education of the masses.

I suppose mass deportation and extermination camps would be considered politically incorrect

But Nick! The “everyone else” need to protect themselves from the military. We all know that rifles can take down missiles, tanks, fighters, bombers, & submarines, Its the only reason Texas is still free from the Army.

The recruiting station was a National Guard site. When the Guard recruiter came to our house to try to get me to sign for my son, at age 17, I pointed out that if he got bad grades while in the Guard, he went straight to the Army, something the recruiter hadn’t told him. Then I put a list of names before the recruiter with over 150 highlighted names. The recruiter asked, “What’s this?” I responded the highlighted names were just the ones from my unit killed in ‘Nam who were my friends, or well-known to me. He wisely surmised I wasn’t going to sign for my son.

That said, my son joined the Navy, served 13 years, never set foot on a ship outside a training trip, always in that “ground Navy” that does those “other duties as assigned”, and got a disability retirement, and physical and psychological disabilities for his service.

It is important for folks to realize that we “liberals” who are strongly anti-war (especially stupid ones sought by chickenhawks) are NOT “pacifists” who won’t fight when attacked.

At the converse; my son and I served and are both disabled veterans. My right-wing (to the right of Hitler maybe) brother, and his sons were all for all our wars, but none served a day in the military, in any form. Yes, I’m initmately familiar with how right-wng chickenhawks serve our country; by, refusing to serve (like Trump, Cheney et al) working on government contracts, and complaining about paying taxes…

The recruiting station with the no-guns policy sign was in a mall. It would have been quite possible for the recruiting station to have been somewhere else. It was a US Navy decision to put that recruiting station in a gun-free zone. A Naval Operations Service Center really has no reason to arm enlisted personnel. Enlisted personnel in the US Navy rarely have guns.

JusSayin: The blue water Navy folks don’t carry weapons every day, by son while in Bosnia, Iraq, and “elsewhere”, carried every day, openly, or concealed. Check out some of the newer Navy ads and see what goes on in that “other Navy”.

I never bombed or shot anyone. I’m calling out the monsters in our midst who do. Usually they have long beards and preach islamic verse

People that are armed and trained are by mere presence a deterrent. Places where firearms are prohibited are nothing more than “target rich” zones.
