@!#$@#$ outta sunscreen. But you only covered half your face... You're gonna get a weird burn, dude... Hold on... I have a solution... I've always wanted a good reason to wear my Australian hat...
@NoButILookLikeHimNo… Monty has the turnup on the correct (left) side. (I wore one 50 years ago.) In the days of the old .303 rifle, when the rifle was carried on the left side (and rested on the shoulder) the brim had to be turned up, otherwise your hat definitely would have been knocked off. However, in my time, the rifle (SLR – 7.62mm) was carried on the right side and in such a way that even with the bayonet fixed, it would not dislodge the hat, so the traditional left side turnup was retained.Further information at the Australian War Memorial site:https://www.awm.gov.au/encyclopedia/slouch/
Sorry NoButtLookLikeHim, Monty Has It correct. The rifle was carried on the left shoulder – should know, been there, done all that. Bayonet or no bayonet, the hat still needed to be turned up to clear the rifle.
I have a safari hat but haven’t had the nerve to actually wear it yet. I do wear my Amish hat at picnics because it is ventilated and keeps off the sun. Ball caps are so unoriginal.
Top of the morning everybody.-—————@The Uncle and Us Fellers: Thanks for the good info.-—————@NeedaChuckle: Judging by the reaction to the dentist killing the lion, for awhile you might want to avoid wearing that hat in public. -——-Have a prosperous day my friends.

Except you’ve got it on the wrong way round. The side that’s up should go on the right (so your bayonet doesn’t knock your hat off…seriously).

And just like that, you pull an Aussie slouch hat out of your kit, Monty?!I think this was a set-up from the start. —Right, Meddick?

Love this strip but I wonder….how old are Monty and Moondog? I am guessing in their 30’s?
