Sometimes it takes an emergency to get priorities straight…

I wish the fire had better color—perhaps laced with yellow?

This gives you perspective on life’s necessities when you consider sacrificial giving to charities.

    Lynn’s Notes:

What they wanted most was warmth, shelter and food. Nothing else was important. They just wanted to survive. It surprised them all to think that days beforehand, they had been thinking about luxuries. This experience changed them all.

Know that feeling, got caught ina flash flood 3 years ago. Grabbed the two dogs and we got to safety, furniture, clothes etc are just things and not important.

Having another person there makes all the difference. At work I have occasionally been half frozen, and when hiking alone I have become thoroughly disoriented with night closing in. When there are two people to watch each other for hypothermia it is much better.

At work we have saying: When we are safe at home all we want is adventure, and when having an adventure all we want is to be safe at home.

I always wanted a sail boat. For me it was lying in a hospital bed wondering if I would ever walk again. Now I only want my tomatoes blight free.

Life is a carrot on a stick—Seems like so many things we look foreward to-just ain’t there when we get there!

It was like that on a deployment where we were uncertain if would ever return to the States alive. One of the guys I was with said “All I want now is to set foot on the USA and live a decent, peaceful life”. Another guy in the unit said “I am with you pal. I see your point of view. To think, last month, I wanted to marry a Victoria’s Secret model”

That wasn’t the point, pal. The point was the recognition of what is genuinely important in a person’s life, which is not ‘things’….

Didn’t you formerly post under another name and use an avatar that had some kind of bird in it? Just wondering…

It is probably safe to say this has affected Elly as well. A couple of weeks ago she was engaging in activism to bail out an old theatre. Now that her husband is missing she seems to put that on hold.
