Once long ago my brother, wife, and two kids (aged 2-1/2 and 1) came to visit on his way to deployment in the MidEast. We took off the kids’ shoes and socks and guided them onto the grass. They were afraid to walk on it — they were from the city and had never walked on grass before. I lifted my niece to put her into a tree, and she was afraid the tree wouldn’t like it. By the end of their visit, they were yelling and laughing as I twirled them around on the grass through a lawn sprinkler. Kids at that age like such simple things.
