The Handshake of Peace at a Catholic mass was hard to get used to. It was supposed to give a sense of fellowship, but people didn’t really want to TOUCH each other. My grandfather, whose native language wasn’t English, used to shake people’s hands, look them in the eye, and say “Peace on you.” We had to explain how that sounded bad.

If there isn’t a Nobel Prize for “avoiding team-building exercises at work,” there certainly should be.
