Hmmm, you’re probably thinking of the latest Congressional pay raise.

Or the law(s) allowing them and their staff to do insider trading.

    Or their exhausting work schedule.

This is a good cartoon and it sure strikes home here in the mid west where many of us LOVE gridlock. Congress rarely passes a bill that benefits hard working tax paying Americans. If they get something done it usually involves taking something away from us.

Corporatists, both of them. When I think of how many people on this list actually believed Obama was a “Marxist” or “socialist,” I just laugh…

The two parties are NOT the same, as you saw last week — who gets nominated to the supreme court makes a huge difference in the lives of millions of Americans. Another thing that will make a huge difference is whether Paul Ryan’s budget, with it’s 4 trillion dollar deficit, elimination of taxes on the rich, increase of taxes on the middle class, and elimination of environmental regulation gets signed or vetoed. Don’t get cynical. It makes a huge difference. Vote.

They had to get it in now, so they can distract us with electioneering for a year & a half. Don’t let them. Vote them out.

Too busy canceling and replacing Obamacare. After all, they only control Congress and the SC.

Because Republicans are ALWAYS doing that, and refuse to budge, so working with them means Democrats ALSO working to screw us over.

“Yes, we now have low paying service jobs as the number one means of working and getting little in return. Sold off our moved off manufacturing crippling our economy.”I just did a little check to see what an American made TV from 1970 would cost in today’s dollars: around $3,700. There are benefits to manufacturing where the costs are cheaper. Automation is a huge factor as well. We still make plenty of stuff here, just with a fraction of the jobs. What I don’t understand, is why people are so unwilling to entertain the idea that people in service jobs should be paid enough to live on. Maybe I’m wrong for thinking that even people who did poorly at school deserve something approximating the opportunities that assembly line jobs once offered in terms of wages. Saying you’re against making people dependent on government, but being unwilling to pay a little more for a fast food meal or the latest gadget, is illogical. When employers are instructing their employees on how to get on government aid programs, I don’t think cutting the aid programs is the solution.

I agree with Cerabooge. .This is a defining moment for democracy: the moment corporations override nation states. There is a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement in the pipeline too. Corporations can sue governments in secret courts if governments pass legislation which restricts their trade. So, for example, if my country Ireland bans a pesticide or genetically modified food on safety grounds, US corporations producing those things can sue the Irish government for loss of revenue. The court hearing will be in secret..Everyone needs to be aware of these agreements. They are not in our interest. Everything about them stinks.
