I’ve always wondered how people can claim that scientists are hoaxing global warming for a paltry few dollars of grant money (which gets spent on improving their models), when the Koch brothers are making billions burning fossil fuels.

Possibly a mix of renewables would work, with dino backup to be used as little as possible. Solar obviously is daytime, but the wind blows 24/7, same with geothermal and tide-power generators. The problem is, we won’t even try until dino is so expensive it will take up all our disposable income. Once the Kochs have all of that, they’ll invest in renewables and run the cost up.

You really, really believe that nonsense? I’m sorry, there are VAST amounts of data, by scientists from a host of fields, that validates global warming being caused by humans – including conservative and liberal scientists — though that shouldn’t matter.Your idea that science should only be “true” if it agrees with your preconceived notions is anathema to any real scientist — which I am.The concepts are over 120 years old now. Time you caught up with the real world.

OldCoal: What storage? If we weren’t dependent on one or two energy sources, we wouldn’t need storage. Retrofitting all existing dams capable of producing at least a megawatt each could match all the nuclear plants in existence or proposed combined, and around here that is being wasted by letting it run over the spillways. Waves and OTEC never stop. Wind could supply most of the nation’s needs and they kill far fewer birds than do office buildings. And the list goes on, as is covered in the six semester-hour course no college will let me teach since Reagan abolished the Bureau of Appropriate Technology in 1982.

The Belief that Thousands of scientists, all over the World, could be enlisted in a Major Fraudulent Conspiracy and Not One of them would ever spill the beans is so mind boggling that IT is the thing that is difficult to understand..

(Ignoring wbr & mdavis4183, who never have anything non-trollish to say)The pope knows zilch about global warming. Sure, it’s nice that he’s on the right side of the argument, but it’s just a celebrity endorsement, and carries no more weight than if Angelina Jolie, Clayton Kershaw, or Jay Leno stated that they accepted (or denied) global warming. The problem is people thinking that this is a political issue. It’s not. It’s a scientific issue, and the facts are as they are, regardless of what politicians do, or what celebrities say. Unfortunately, most Americans are interested in what the celebrities say, not what the science says. They are about to find out, however, that you cannot vote, legislate, or wish away nature.“For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled” (Richard Feynman).“You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality” (Ayn Rand).“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away” (Philip K. Dick).

Obviously you people don’t bother to get to the bottom of the story. The Pope is currently being advised by Schellnhuber, who is a director of Germany’s Potsdam Institute and is known for his radical ideas on climate change. He is also the director of the WBGU, the German Advisory council on Global Change. In other words, the Pope is being advised by a radical, climate change kook pushing an agenda that favors merging nations with the UN. In fact, a group of 90 prominent scientists, religious leaders and academics have written an open letter to Pope Francis. The writers profess their appreciation for the Pope’s efforts on behalf of the environment and his commitment to the Judeo-Christian principle of ’responsible stewardship’ for creation, but suggest that the people closest to him may not be providing him with all the facts about climate change.” The Pope has no clue what he is speaking about, he is only a puppet hijacked by the climate change movement…..and apparently there are some dolts commenting on this “toon” that have been too.
