You asked to not be asked, Val, but you’re telling anyway.

The accident was not your doing, of course, but everything subsequent was.

The “moment” of insanity was more like a week and someone should have poured a bucket of ice water over her head to wake her up. As it is, Val is supposed to be reasonably intelligent but this borders on Abbot & Costello slapstick comedy. It doesn’t work here. It’s actually boring and is far below the quality of story that we have come to appreciate from Jan.

Unfortunately, we have a whole month to go for it to play out unless Jan will allow a shining knight to step in and save the day. I won’t hold my breath.

I was thinking before I read this, that Jan has created some outstanding characters for us to get to know. Alix and Evie leap to mind. If Jan wants to portray Val as falling apart before her wedding because of stressors that she finds overwhelming, well I say, let her. Jan has earned it.

I just find it fascinating that a grown woman can freak out so much as to completely void any logical thinking.

That sort of freak out I can see when there’s an immediate emergency like the time I forgot how to turn off the central air in my home when it broke and filled me, my baby, and my dog’s lungs with white smoke. My mind went right to wires on the AC itself instead of just turning it off at the thermostat. It took me a good few seconds to realize I was doing it wrong.

I totally agree with the comments of Nicole (above) and I quote her:

“I just find it fascinating that a grown woman can freak out so much as to completely void any logical thinking…”

Yes……here’s a woman with so much to be thankful for but who just can’t seem put anything into perspective. If there is nothing to get upset over she will find something and then have a nervous breakdown over it. Phil’s comment on her naivete is right on. He will be good for her.
