I have a company cell phone that I can use for personal use, I’d never EVER spend 700+ dollars on a smart phone, I’d buy a new desktop or laptop if I had that much money. A phone is for talking, nothing more.

Ironicaly I leave mine home all the time, people say how will someone get a hold of you if they need to in an emergency and I say, I check my messages when I get back just like I did 20 years ago.

We have the El-Cheapo style cell phone. Only makes and receives calls. Pay less than $20 a month and have 250 minutes a month. Rarely use it except for when we leave the house. We have the “Frank & Linda” plan. :)

I also have a cell ( from trxx foxx for 10 US$ a mon.) with like 6 hrs on it ! I have used it once for a real call and 3 times for tests to home phone ! For me, it is in my "GOOD Plan Pack "(Get Out Of Dodge ) for if or when I’m in an accident or a tornado etc! PS it is always off !

Indeed. I do not consider myself old, but I got my first smart phone a year ago and love it. I did not pay $200 for it, and yes, I make calls but also text, surf, make schedule changes and occasionally check emails. It is an extremely valuable tool for me and most. I know few people without one.And at thevery least, how IS someone supposed to reach you? If you wait til you get home to check messages, it may be too late.
