My theory on drivers license photos (or passports for that matter) they are taking photos assuming you will be arrested at some point. When you photo is taken at the police station your photo will then match completely with your license. fewer mistaken identities…

that or taking bad photos is the highlight of DMV employees day.

    Probably both….

Every driver’s license photo I’ve had makes me look like a finalist in both the town drunk and village idiot contests.

I always try to looked as angry as possible so any cop that pulls you will think, “This guy may fly off the handle.”

Our baseball team has a crowd game, where they pick some folks, and have them compete for the Worst Drivers Licence photo. It’s fun, but no where as bad as the real things.

In British Columbia, they wait until any reasonable expression has faded, then shoot. I think they have a competition for the worst each day, week, month, and “of all time”. My current Texas picture is a good representation of what I will look like when found a couple of days after my death.

Just the other day a friend asked me to smile as he held his phone up, so I gave him a rather dramatic, angry grimace just as he snapped the picture!

I asked him if he wanted to try again with a big smile on my face, and he said no, it was perfect… it’s exactly how we see you all the time!

    I don’t know it it was a complement…

Gee…after reading how you all think you look awful, I won’t comment on mine! I actually LIKE it! I save my old, exp. ones. Just look back 12 years…then you will think you looked fantastic! It’s all relevant! :-) At my age (80) I’m just glad I’m alive to have another one exp!!!

neverenoughgold: I’m not, but apparently they were. They got me after saying “smile” and I was pointing out that I wouldn’t be smiling if stopped.
