My Dad count wait for me to learn to drive, so he could send me on errands that he would normally have to do. He was teaching me at 15, a year before I could legally drive.
I got my license at 14 (almost 15). In Texas, in the mid sixties, if you took driver’s ed in high school you could do that but not any longer. It was two years later before my parents LET me drive, though.
